High Drama

It's not you. It's your owner.

Today there was some crazy dog park drama! Luckily, I was not involved. My mom was pretty proud of me.

Lots of scuffles today between rowdy pit breed dogs and non-pit mix dogs. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t the usual suspects. (If you want specific names of the bad dogs and owners that everyone dislikes, let me know. I’ll email you so that you can know to leave the dog park when they show up.)

Today, two dogs showed up that I’d never seen before. It seems that the two dogs came with their separate owners. Well, in the course of 30 minutes, these two dogs bullied and attacked 3 different dogs at different times.  Each time, the owner would yell loudly at the dog and pin it to the ground. The next moment, the dog was up and running around like crazy again.

After the 3rd incident, my mom pulled me the heck out . . . → Read More: High Drama

Dreaming Doggies

2010-09-12_02-31-05_273

I must take after my mom because I dream frequently throughout the day! I never really thought about how much I dream at night, but my mom mentioned how much I shake when I sleep sometimes.  When dogs shake in the beginning stages of sleep, it means we’re having a crazy dream.  I for one dream about chasing squirrels up trees.  This definitely goes back to the belief that people and dogs dream about things they have seen or experienced in waking life.

Smaller dogs like myself actually have more dreams than large breed dogs.  It’s really too bad for them, because I love that point in my dream when I’ve got a squirrel in my mouth and I’m tossing it around from side to side. I never eat the squirrel or kill it. No, I simply toss it around for fun. I have never been able to do this in real . . . → Read More: Dreaming Doggies

My First Real Fall

70 degrees and in winter coats

As some of you may know, my birthday is later this month! It seems like it was just yesterday when I was a youthful pup.

It just started getting to be brisk fall weather. But last week, we really lucked out and I was taken to the Swift Run dog park twice! This is a big deal for 2 reasons: 1. We usually don’t go to Swift Run because it takes about 20 minutes to get there. and 2. The weather was amazing in the 70s!

While enjoying the sunshine, I noticed an odd human couple that was watching their dog while dressed in a winter coat!

Where are these humans from – Fiji? Sheesh, I’m from Africa and I think this weather . . . → Read More: My First Real Fall

Do you have a permit for that?

Rules, permits, and more rules.

About a month ago after a glorious day at the dog park, I was walking out with my parents and some friends. We were heading to the car and a police officer approached us! I was so scared I was going to get in trouble for not wearing a seat belt in the car or sitting in a crate. But turns out, the officer just wanted to make us aware that to play in the dog parks in Ann Arbor, you need to get a permit for dogs. Basically the permit is just a way of getting dog owner parents to pay a fee to keep up the dog park. But in all honesty after talking to other pups, no one hardly has a permit. Ironically enough, the dogs that are meanest at the dog park tend to have the permits..Compensating much?

In other news, some pit bull . . . → Read More: Do you have a permit for that?

Clean Water Scarcity

One of my biggest human peeves: when a dog owner brings their dog(s) to the dog park and fails to bring water for them to drink. At our dog park, there are no fountains to replenish the water. So when my mom packs me some water, it really can be annoying when other doggies plop down right in front of the water bowl and drool into the last cup of water. Parents, don’t rely on other parents to bring water!

Anyways, the last time at the dog park, I had a fantastic time with a Golden. See . . . → Read More: Clean Water Scarcity

Over and Over Again

Goodnight World

I was at the dog park the other day. It was a sunny fall day full of promise. But unfortunately there’s oftentimes a bad dog at the dog park. One in every crowd. I know as a doggy we can all have our off days where we snap and growl at other pups for no reason, so I try to give “bully breeds” the benefit of the doubt.

So I was playing as usual and a big dog nearly ripped my head off! I swear to Clifford I didn’t do anything to warrant this type of reaction. I held my ground and eventually the mom of the other dog pulled him away. Luckily, I was fine and no major injuries. But the mom decided to discipline her pup by putting the pup in the gated area before you walk into the dog park. She was putting the dog in a “2 minute . . . → Read More: Over and Over Again

Kimch-Poster!

KimchPoster

I was recently alerted from my mom’s friend Ana that there is an Imposter Kimchi/Me out there! I’m not sure if this imposter is using my identity to try and pass for me. But I think there’s a good chance of Kimch fraud happening.

Have you seen this imposter? Or have you seen other imposters posing as me? Identity Theft is a very serious problem. Please be on high alert and send me evidence if you suspect I’m . . . → Read More: Kimch-Poster!

Running as Fast as I Can

Getting some Zzzz's

This weekend was pretty good, I can’t complain. I went to the dog romp in Ann Arbor and ran around like crazy. I had been feeling super antsy Saturday morning, so I was chewing on shoes, scratchin on window screens, and eating the bathroom garbage. I think all my quirks accomplished my goal of being taken out of the house. Here I am running in the park.

Also, here’s me eating some sand..Yum!

And I’m taking on 2 dogs at one time!

After all that fun, I am . . . → Read More: Running as Fast as I Can

Dogs Love VW

A while back I did a scandalous critique of my father’s car. Today I will review my mom’s car and it’s Basenji-friendliness.

Things going for my mom’s VW bug:

The backseat is so close to the front seats that my back paws can stand on the back seat while my front paws rest comfortably on the center console. I like this position because of the great view I get from the dashboard.
Large and spacious dashboard. This is a favorite place for me to sit during stoplights. The dashboard is roomy and warm from the sun. I feel like my body is rubbing against a glass bubble. (Although when I sit here, my mom tends to yell and pull my collar. Not cool. Minus 1 point.)
Cloth seats that are durable really help keep my mom’s stress-factor down. I can come inside the car soaked from dirt and sit on the seats. The material of . . . → Read More: They see me rollin’, they hatin’
